Interrogative Particle (مََنْ)

Interrogative Particle (من)
(من) in Arabic Language means (who), it is an interrogative particle used to seek information about human beings either in subject or predicate positions. It can be used with both verbal and nominal sentences:
When (من) is used in a verbal sentence, the question is always about the subjects in the sentence
The subject is known as (فاعل) in a verbal sentence and (مبندأ) in a nominal sentence.
The subject in any sentence is the doer of the action in the sentence.
For instance, let us look at the following examples, we shall be seeking information about the subject in the verbal sentences.
Examples:
من كتب الرسالة؟
Who wrote the letter?
كتب حبيب الرحمانِ الرسالة
Habeeburrahman wrote the letter
...................................................
من يجلس على الكرسى؟
Who sits on the chair?
يجلس عيسى على الكرسى
Issah sits on the chair
...................................................
من قرأ القرأن؟
Who read the Quran?
قرأ يوسف القرأن
Yusuf read the Quran
...................................................
All the above sentences, the questions are seeking information about "The Subjects in the sentences. This is because the questions are asking for the subjects or the doers of the actions in those sentences.
When (من) is used in Nominal sentences, the question is also always about the Subject or predicate in the sentence.
من هذا؟
Who is this?
هذا مهندس
This is an engineer
...................................................
من هذه؟
Who is this?
هذه طبيبة قديمة
This is an old doctor
...................................................
من ذلك؟
Who is that?
ذلك مدرس جديد
That is a new teacher
...................................................
من فى الغرفة؟
Who is in the room?
راضية فى الغرفة
Rodiyah is in the room
...................................................
من تلك؟
Who is that?
تلك أمى
That is my mother
...................................................
In the above examples, we are seeking information about the subjects or the predicates in the sentences. In this case, the sentences are all nominal sentences.
NOTE: It is important to note that the subjects and predicates we are seeking information about as mentioned in the above examples are all human beings.
This means that the particle (من) is used only to seek information about human beings.
